ALL DOLLED UP

Having little sisters, nieces and daughters around is the absolute greatest thing. Teaching our lovely littles about hair is a duty we don’t take lightly. We clearly remember that moment when we learned to do a 3 strand braid for the first time, and according to this Instagram post last week, it sounds like you all remember, too! For many of us, learning to do a simple ponytail or basic braid was a perfect place to start. But it’s a new day! Kids see so much more now and they’re very inspired by their glamorous mentors. Today’s reigning red carpet queens often wear colorful strands of pastel through the ends of the hair. Our sisters and nieces wanted in on the action, so we decided to go on beauty duty and create some colorful memories for them. First we showed them how to do temporary hair chalking on their own hair with soft pastels from the art store. Then, we created an outdoor picnic spread and provided each of them with a Barbie® Color Chalk Hair Doll (which comes with it’s own hair chalk applicator). These pretty princesses went. to. town! This was a party they’ll never forget (okay, we’ll never forget). We documented the day and made a little video to share with you called “All Dolled Up”. Hopefully it will inspire you to inspire a little girl in your life. Don’t forget to pass it on.

BACK TO BASICS

Hope everyone had a great Halloween! We’re looking at all of the photos you posted on twitter and we are SO impressed!

Today’s video was created for those of you who haven’t mastered the good ol’ french braid yet. It’s a tricky little thing. Hopefully this visual will help you understand it better. (more…)

GET EXCITED!

Okay, lady bugs! Our video tutorials are back. HOORAY! By far the #1 request in my inbox has been for THE FISHTAIL BRAID! After you watch this tutorial, all of you will know exactly how it’s done. I’m including one very tricky little secret and Lauren’s going to show you how it’s done. Even the most uncoordinated person will be able accomplish this intricate ‘do. That’s a big promise and I’m stickin’ to it. Don’t forget to stop by Friday!
