‘TIS THE SEASON!

I love a foiled lip all year round, but especially for holiday parties or New Year’s! It’s a really festive look that’s very sultry and coy. There are metallic lipsticks out there but nothing really that gives you a foiled look like eyeshadow minerals over lip gloss (and this way you can use something you already own!). HOLD THE SHIMMER!

A lot of us are a little weary of matte products, believing that an all-matte face will make you look lifeless… but I’m here to say you should reconsider every now and then! There’s something ultra modern + chic about a matte eye paired with a matte cheek and a matte lip. I had the pleasure of doing the lovely Anna Paquin’s makeup for this Emmy Magazine story {HBO’s True Blood returns on Sunday; set your dvr’s!} and there isn’t an ounce of shimmer used on her. I wish you could have seen it in person as it created a moodiness that was very sultry and almost velvety. Here’s exactly what I used so you can re-create it: (more…)
