Makeup has come a long way since our mothers’ era! And powder might become a thing of the past with this genius invention. I’ve tried it on my clients in every situation (the red carpet, talk shows, photo shoots) and it hasn’t failed me yet! I used to be a fan of blotting papers when I didn’t want to the makeup to get cakey from powder, but tapping a little anti-shine mattifier works so-o much better. No need to thank me; just enjoy! This might not be for everyone but I know it made a lot of you light up inside! There are so many different variations of this too. HOLD THE SHIMMER!

A lot of us are a little weary of matte products, believing that an all-matte face will make you look lifeless… but I’m here to say you should reconsider every now and then! There’s something ultra modern + chic about a matte eye paired with a matte cheek and a matte lip. I had the pleasure of doing the lovely Anna Paquin’s makeup for this Emmy Magazine story {HBO’s True Blood returns on Sunday; set your dvr’s!} and there isn’t an ounce of shimmer used on her.
