OILY EYELID RESCUE

You’ve already learned our quick tip for preventing your lower eyeliner from running in The Line Saver post, so this time we’re focusing on the upper lashline. If you have oily eye lids, you’ve probably struggled with your liner stamping itself just above the crease. Even if it’s a waterproof formula… so frustrating! And if you’ve used a non-waterproof formula, forget about it. You might as well draw the crease line yourself because it’s definitely going to end up there anyway! But this trick really works if you do it immediately upon application.

EYESHADOW FOCUS: SURFACE AREA

It’s funny, when I work on the majority of my clients, I extend a wash of color from all over the lid out to the end of the brow and up to include the crease. But when I do my own makeup, I only shade in the lid. Is it a preference thing or a case-by-case basis? Does it depend on the time of day or the outfit or mood? Yes to all! Still, I wanted to do a side-by-side experiment with the same eye and the same¬†single shadow color to draw a personal conclusion and open it up to our TBD readers for your opinion. EYE FOCUS: HOODED LID

Because so many of our readers have asked for more options for hooded eyelids, we thought you’d love this one fun one for summer! The trick to this slight illusion is to create a “crease line” that is a few millimeters higher than your actual crease, therefore making the lid area appear bigger than it really is. And the best way to do this is with two colors; here I used my favorite blue cream shadow for the lid with my favorite smoky taupe kohl pencil to create the new “raised” crease line. Ladies! I can’t get enough of this makeup combination and am dying for you to try it! Normally we pair purple eyeshadow with nude, pink or peach lips for a very feminine and Spring look (which we should never give up), but you will be surprised how gorgeous purple lids also are with a red lip!
