GIFT OF THE WEEK

graphic design: Eunice Chun post: Kristin Ess

Clearly we take a whole lot of photos around this place and we often test looks out by shooting them on an iPhone, just to see how they look before we go pro. Our next TBD “Gift of the Week” is this amazing cover! It’s both cute AND functional, which we love. I got one last week while we were in Toronto and I couldn’t wait to share it! Some of you may or may not realize that the “volume up” button on an iPhone can be used to snap a photo when you’re using the camera app. The the shutter button on this camera cover sits right on top of the “volume up” button and that’s how it works. There’s also a button over the “volume down” button, so you can do business as usual while sporting this cover. If you drop your gadget a lot, worry not– it comes with a place for a camera strap. Let’s be real– it’s not like this phone cover actually makes the photo better, it just makes you feel a little more chic while shooting!

GIFT OF THE WEEK

Try not to die too hard over these gorgeous stocking stuffers like we did! Once again Kate Spade collaborated with Lipstick Queen’s creator Poppy King (one of our idols!) to create these three stunning colors, one for each holiday soiree! And don’t forget New Year’s Eve…

We’ve been really into lipstick crayons for a few years now and love it that Kate and Poppy whipped these up because the color payoff is rich and party perfect. I’ll be gifting a box to my sister and three besties (hope they’re not reading this)… You can grab one for yourself, I mean your friends, here.

DIY: GLITTER BOBBY PINS

If you’re a girl-on-the-go, chances are you’ll have to put your hair up in a quick updo, bun or chignon from time to time. That’s great if you’re rushing to work or a meeting, but what happens when you’re heading to a wedding, on a date or to a holiday party after work. This tutorial will show you a great way to add a little extra sparkle to your ‘do. Here we go:

You’ll need bobby pins, Elmer’s glue, glitter, wax paper, hot glue gun + a little fabric in any pattern you like!

1. Create your favorite shape using Elmer’s glue on a piece of wax paper- letters, hearts, stars + dots look amazing.
2. Cover the glue with your favorite glitter.
3. Let it dry over night then peel the glittery shape you created up slowly from the wax paper.
4. Add a cute fabric to the back to stabilize the shape and make it more durable.
5. Attach the bobby pin to the back with hot glue or craft glue.

These will be a great little addition to any hairstyle, particularly chignons!

GIFT OF THE WEEK

With the holidays creeping hard, this is a great time to start talking gifts. Now through the end of the holidays we’ll be posting one gift a week. We’re on the hunt for new, unique beauty gift ideas and I’m going to kick it off with this one. As soon as I saw THIS CIATÉ NAIL POLISH CALENDAR, I couldn’t wait to share it. This may be one of the cutest girl-gifts out there.

This set comes with:

  • 17 of Ciaté’s most popular paint pot colors
  • 4 Caviar blends
  • 3 exclusive glitter shades (that will never be seen outside of this box)

Soooo obsessed with thinking about all the nail art that could happen with this set. I can’t imagine how fast these are going to fly off the shelves!
