False lashes cause a lot of problems if you don’t have years of practice! They slide, an end will come unglued, the middle will bubble up… it’s enough to turn people off from using them after one failed attempt. But if you try this, I bet you’ll be thrilled with the result! Here’s how:

TOOLS:

TBDDivideandConquerSTEPS

STEPS:

  1. Gather up cuticle scissors, a pair of false lashes and lash glue.
  2. Determine if you want to divide it into thirds or quarters. If you’re doing quarters, place your thumb on the halfway line then cut half of the half.
  3. Snip the original halfway line.
  4. Cut the remaining half in half.
  5. If there is an end hanging at the end, snip it.
  6. Dip the end quarter into lash glue that has been sitting out for at least two minutes so it gets tacky.
  7. Place on the end of your lash line.
  8. Continue placing them along the lash line.

There are lots of emails in our inbox asking how to make smaller eyes look bigger. There are also many asking how to disguise a drooping eyelid. If your eyes are on the smaller side, try making the whole eye area bigger. And one way is by exaggerating the lashes. (more…)

EASY STREET

I stumbled upon these a couple weeks ago at CVS (ok, honestly I know every single aisle and product there so there’s no chance for something new to sneak by me) and I was so irritated that I didn’t think of them first! So genius. Why? Because individual lashes take practice and have a tendency to turn on their sides in wild directions (dodgy little things) and lash strips tend to either stick up at the corners or look too costume-y. But these little beauties are fool proof and look amazing.  (more…)

MADAME STREAMLINE

I love streamlining anything and everything. One of my proudest accomplishments is traveling with a client and minimizing my kit to a small doctor’s bag (revisit my SurprEYES Tutorial here for fitting foundation and cream blush in the smallest of clutches). So I’m super excited to bring you today’s little gem! I know I haven’t convinced everyone to bump it up to false lashes for parties and nights out on the town yet (even with our Quick Tips for Lash Strips Tutorial showing you just how easy and foolproof applying them is!). But I know a lot of you have made the leap and are having a lot of fun with it! So how do you store them? In mint tins of course! Here’s how:  (more…)
