DIY LASH CURLING WITH A… SPOON!

Have you ever curled wrapping ribbon by running it against the hard edge of opened scissors? This spoon technique draws from the same action and is one of the oldest tricks in the book. I learned this back in school at the Makeup Designory and thought my teacher was a little off her rocker when she included a spoon on our list of tools for our kit! But after teaching us how to do it and practicing on each other, I quickly became a believer. Some even swear it curls their lashes better than a lash curler.  I think it looks a little more natural than the curler (revisit our Perfect Pinch Tutorial here) but I personally still prefer the lash curler but only by a little. MAKE YOUR LASH CURLING MORE EFFECTIVE + LAST LONGER

We’ve always been told to curl our lashes before applying mascara so we don’t accidentally break off any lashes. And rightfully so, unfortunately. When mascara dries, it makes each lash dry and stiff… and more prone to breaking. So we curl before applying it and if we lose a little bit of the curl when we apply mascara, we accept it and take what we can get! But, there is another option worth trying that allows you to curl after, right at that critical moment when the lashes are drying, making the pinch more powerful. Here’s how: (more…)

SETTING YOUR CURLS WITH SPONGE ROLLERS

How can you not love big bouncy curls… at least for those epic 20 minutes they typically last!? I know we all swoon and pin the hair we see in old photographs of Brigitte Bardot + Rita Hayworth, and even more modern manes via Victoria’s Secret and Gucci runways. They all share one voluminous secret– a good set. It’s something we rarely do anymore because we just can’t seem to find the time. The thing is, just like anything else in life, if you want that hair you’re gonna have to work for it.
