LINE AND DEFINE: A QUICK STUDY

By now you know that I love a good comparison study! Because when we see something side-by-side, it’s much easier to see what each technique really does. Does rimming the entire eye make it more piercing or make the eye look smaller? Is it more dramatic when it’s smudged? Is it worth it to rim the waterline? Let’s walk through each “ring”: 

LOOK #1 INNER RING ONLY: Gently pull down on your lower eye area and sweep the pencil along the inner lower waterline. Then gently lift your upper eyelid upwards and trace along the upper waterline.

LOOK #2 OUTER RING ONLY: Line the upper and lower lashlines by tracing the pencil from the inner corner to the outer corner.

LOOK #3 SMUDGED OUTER RING: Repeat the steps for the Outer Rim then smudge it with your finger or a smudge brush.

LOOK #4 SMUDGED OUTER RIM + INNER RING: Repeat the steps for the Smudged Outer Rim then line the upper and lower inner waterlines as well.

These are the products used in this tutorial:

• Black Kohl Liner — I used Charlotte Tilbury Rock N Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil because it glides on easily, is the blackest black, is smudge-able then sets and doesn’t move.
• Black Mascara — I used one of my all-time favorites Eyeko Skinny Mascara because it really elongates each lash.
• Pewter Shadow — Because I know a few of you are going to ask, the eyeshadow I used in this study is Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey Pigment in Heaven (the pressed pigment is one of the most incredible ones I’ve ever gotten my hands on!).
