EYE STUDY: CLOSE TOGETHER

Post + Photography by Amy Nadine, Graphic Design by Eunice Chun

It’s nothing new to lighten the inner corner of the eyes. I remember reading Kevyn Aucoin’s Making Faces in 1995 where he explained how he noticed children’s inner eye corners were so light and bright and how when we get older the area gets darker and darker. So for years we added white shimmer eyeshadow to the area, which more than did the job. Now in 2013, it looks a little distracting and obvious, so we here at TBD recommend retiring the shimmer and switching to a white pencil, blended into the skin to where it’s undetectable. Here’s how:

TOOLS:

  • White Pencil — any white pencil will do, matte is more modern but if it’s pearlized, I’ll live as long as you blend blend blend! I used Shu Uemura Eye Light Pencil above, but I also love NYX Eyeliner Pencil in Pure White.
  • Your finger — the heat of your body temperature to warm up the product with the smoothness of the fingerprint makes it by far your best tool.

STEPS:

  1. The goal is to draw to V’s on their sides like this: > < so start in the inner corner and line the lashline 1/5 of the distance of both the upper and lower lashlines. Repeat on the other eye.
  2. Blend the line with your finger until it’s about half of its intensity.

Don’t forget another amazing use for your white pencil is this White Liner Tutorial!
