PRE-POWDER MUST
Here’s the deal. Sometimes when we apply foundation, we get a little carried away in the coverage. And by we, I mostly mean me! I can’t help it. I see things that I want to cover and go back and add another layer to the area, move on, go back and add another layer until I’m happy with the result. But if I were to immediately powder after, the areas where the foundation hasn’t been absorbed in the skin or is in a little, ahem, excess, it’s going to get cakey in those areas. It’s just what happens when you apply powder until of “fresh” foundation. Which is why this trick is a lifesaver! Just take a second to blot the skin after you apply foundation (and cream blush/bronzer) but before you powder, accomplishing two things: 1. it absorbs the excess foundation that would have otherwise gotten “cakey” when you powdered it and 2. it really presses the product into the skin. Here’s how:
TOOLS:
- Your Favorite Foundation ($$$) or this favorite one ($)
- Your Favorite Cream Blush ($) or Cream Bronzer ($$)
- Tissue
- Your Favorite Powder ($$)
STEPS:
- Apply foundation all over like you typically would.
- Stipple cream blush and/or cream bronzer.
- Place the tissue over your flat hand.
- Fold the “flaps” under and tuck with your outside fingers/thumb as Penelope demonstrated above.
- Press and roll your fingers on the skin..
- Lift your hand up and repeat in another area until you’ve blotted your whole face.
- Now you can go back and powder.
- Focus on your T-zone.
