FASHION FRIDAY
It’s Fashion Friday and today’s topic is how to wear your makeup when your outfit is red! Red is such a statement color that draws a lot of attention, so you’ll want to put some thought into your makeup. And we see these as the prettiest three options:
RED LIP: Matching your red dress with a red lip is such an elegant and classic choice. Be sure to choose a red that matches your skin tone best, not necessarily the dress tone. Revisit our Undertones story to find the best red shade for you. You can go matte or satin but we wouldn’t go glossy. Our favorite matte reds areĀ Bite High Pigment Matte Pencil in Pomegranate and MAC Lipstick Ruby Woo. Pair it with a bare eye (mascara only) and light bronzer as not to compete.
NUDE LIP: Understating your makeup let’s your fashion be the star of the show, giving off a je ne sais quoi air about you in an effortless manner. It’s also a great option for playing it down during the day time. Our favorite nude lipsticks are NARS Lipstick in Belle De Jour and Dior Addict Extreme in Incognito. Pair it with a defined eye (liner + mascara) and light bronzer to keep you from looking washed out.
LIP POP: Clashing your lip with your red outfit is perfect for the trendsetter who loves to break the rules! It brightens everything and is so fun + flirty, especially for Spring + Summer. Our favorite hot pink is NARS Lipstick in Schiap and our favorite bright orange is Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense in 40. Pair them with a pink blush if you have cool undertones or a peach blush if you have warm undertones.
