This look takes a second to warm up to as it’s not exactly what we’re used to seeing walk in a room… but as my mom used to say about first dates, don’t be so quick to dismiss! It’s new and different so it doesn’t feel comfortable or “right” to you, but that doesn’t mean it’s not wearable. It was very popular on the A/W 11 runways this year in shades of aubergine, eggplant and even lavender, so it’s worth pondering, even if you don’t take the plunge.

Have a look at these four options:

1. Shade: Royal Violet, Finish: Glossy — This one is very wearable because the glossy texture gives it life. Try: Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lipgloss in Wet Violet.

2. Shade: Lavender, Finish: Satin — This is reserved for our readers who are a little more fashion obsessed and love to try all trends. And it’s great for a fun night out with the girls (and for those of you who are like me and dress for girls, not guys!). Try: Lime Crime Opaque Lipstick in D’Lilac or Airborne Unicorn.

3. Shade: Dark Eggplant, Finish: Matte — This one is surprisingly very wearable and a great version of a vamp lip. Try: Makeup Forever Rouge Artist in 49 Satin Blueberry.

4. Shade: Purpley-Pink, Finish: Slightly Pearlized — This one is definitely the most wearable of the four as it’s as equally pink as it is purple, making it a perfect baby step into this trend. Try: Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in Amethyst Shimmer.

I’m so-oooo curious to know if you’ll try this trend! Please comment below and let us know either way, and mention which version(s) you’re up for. Thanks!

XO, Amy Nadine
