BEAUTY BITES

If we could wish for more of anything, ENERGY would be at the very top of the list. Let’s face it, beauties…we live in a super busy world where time seems to vanish quicker than it came and life can get exhausting! Lately in the TBD kitchen, we’ve been whipping up anything and everything that can give as a healthy energy boost to power through even the busiest day. Not to mention, with summer officially at the close, we are craving ALL of the fall flavors. So with the serious need for a kick in the pants and a fall flavor craving, we’ve come up with the easiest little energy bites! These are perfect for on the go and packed full of warm fall spice…and a few beauty benefits worth mentioning!

Like many of our recipes, you can bet that the ingredients are minimal and the process is simple. But rest assure, simple does not mean basic in this case! We’ve jazzed up these energy bites into our three favorite flavor profiles for fall. Pumpkin pie (obvi), maple pecan, and spiced chai. So let’s get into these three delicious recipes, shall we?

PUMPKIN PIE ENERGY BITES

What you’ll need:

1 cup of oats

1 tablespoon of sunflower seeds

1/2 cup of ground flax meal

1/3 cup of honey

1/2 cup almond butter

1/3 cup chopped almonds

2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice (plus extra for sprinkling)

The Process:

Put all of your ingredients into a large bowl and mix until combined (they have a thick cookie dough like consistancy). Roll into balls and dust with extra pumpkin pie spice. You know, for that extra deliciousness. These taste straight up like a slice of the good stuff. Is it Thanksgiving yet?

MAPLE PECAN ENERGY BITES

What you’ll need:

1 cup oats

1/3 cup chopped pecans (plus extra to roll them in)

1/2 cup ground flax meal

1/3 cup pure maple syrup (use the good stuff, not the place for Aunt Jemima!)

1/2 cup almond butter

1 teaspoon cinnamon

The Process:

Place all the ingredients into a large bowl and mix until combined. Roll into balls and then roll in leftover chopped pecans. This is an optional step but they look so pretty…almost like truffles. Super healthy truffles that is. Not to mention these taste like pancakes. PANCAKES.

CHAI SPICE ENERGY BITES

What you’ll need:

1 cup oats

1/3 cup toasted coconut

1/3 cup honey

1/2 cup ground flax meal

1/2 cup almond butter

2 teaspoons of chai spice (we made our own but you can find this in the spice aisle)

chopped slivered almonds (to roll them in)

The Process:

You know the drill…everything goes into the bowl and start mixing! We rolled these in chopped slivered almonds and it went perfect with the spicy chai flavor. These literally taste like a chai latte!

These bites may be small, but they pack a big punch. Between the oats, the flax meal and almond butter they contain plenty of fiber, omega 3s and healthy carbs to keep the motor running! More energy = more active. More active = a healthier lifestyle. A healthy, active body inside is the best way to reflect a healthy body on the outside. What you put into it, is what you get out of it! Beauty wise, the almond butter in these “treats” is a great source of vitamin E that can help protect your cells from oxidative stress. This is HUGELY beneficial for the skin. Good skin and energy to burn…two of our favorite things!

We hope that the next time you’re running on empty, you give our yummy fall flavored energy bites a try! Wether it’s after a workout, mid-day at the office or when you just need a pick-me-up, these little babies will do the trick. They also taste like dessert, so everybody wins!
