TACKLE ACNE & AGING SIMULTANEOUSLY

It’s easy to think you can only tackle acne OR aging, but not both at the same time. So if  we have acne, we just focus on that because it’s an immediate issue, and we don’t think we have the luxury to worry about the future, or we think an anti-wrinkle cream will break us out. Well here’s a proposed nighttime routine to battle both simultaneously the way that I do! Every night, start with your favorite anti-acne product, but only apply it thinly in the areas that you need it. Then quickly switch to your favorite anti-aging cream and apply it over the areas that you don’t worry about now but will creep up on you later! Here’s how:

TBD FAVORITES:

  • Look for an anti-acne medication that has either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide combined with soothing formulas that won’t cause a third problem: irritation (try this one) or try this one that uses a more natural approach. But if you have found one that works for you, stick with it!
  • Two of our favorite anti-aging creams are this one for its powerful vitamin C and triple oxygen and this one for its combination of peptides, hyalauronic acid and anti-oxidants. Or try this one if you’re on a budget!

ANTI-ACNE STEPS:

  1. Pump the size of a half-pea onto the palm of your hand.
  2. Slap your hands back and forth like you’re dusting them off to really thin it out across your fingers.
  3. Quickly swipe your fingers against your cheeks like you’re wiping off something that landed on them.
  4. Repeat on your forehead (if that’s an acne-prone area for you).
  5. Swipe them along the top and sides of your nose.
  6. Finally swipe them across your chin.

ANTI-AGING STEPS:

  1. Pump a couple times onto your fingertips as demonstrated above.
  2. Wipe your fingers back and forth against each other to spread it evenly.
  3. Dab it under your eyes (not too close so it doesn’t creep in while you’re sleeping and irritate them, causing puffiness) as well as on the upper lids themselves.
  4. Dab it along your lip lines and nasal labial lines.
  5. Finish by patting the rest over your neck and chest.

If this is too much for you (you know who you are, just admit it!), there are anti-acne anti-aging systems that tackle both in one solution! This one is my personal favorite and this one is popular too! Just remember, if you spend your twenties and thirties only concerned about clear skin, you’re missing years that you could have had under your belt tackling future wrinkles that one day appeared out of nowhere when you look in the rear-view mirror  at a stop light. It’s the one thing I wish I could tell my younger self regarding skincare… And don’t forget sunscreen!!

CROW’S FEET 911

It happens one morning: you get up, wander into the bathroom, lean in to see the mirror more closely and there they are… crow’s feet! You swear they weren’t there yesterday?! You’ve read about them, seen them on your mom, but didn’t think they could happen to you this young! Then it hits you: they’re only going to get worse! So you vow to amp up your anti-aging routine from this day forward. And we’ll help guide you through with our new Anti-Aging Series, starting with this today’s tutorial that takes skincare to the next level.

LED (Light Emitting Diodes) Therapies have been warriors against wrinkles for over a decade now because unlike other devices and gadgets that are complete nonsense, these actually have proven results. Blue lights are used to prevent and clear up acne while red lights work on the appearance of lines and wrinkles (as well as pain therapy) and even dark spots by accelerating cellular metabolism, repairing damaged skin cells and stimulating the production of structural proteins .  But you had to make a trip to the spa every week consistently to enjoy and see the results. So you can imagine how excited I was a few years ago when brands made ones to use at home! I’ve sifted through the numerous ones out there to find these three favorites that are professional strength and really work. Spend 10 minutes in front of the TV doing this a couple times a week and watch friends out of nowhere compliment you on your skin. I kinda got addicted after that kind of feedback! Here’s how:

OUR FAVORITES:

STEPS:

  1. After washing your face, place the device directly on a problem area and turn it on.
  2. Hold it over that area (you can actually touch the skin with it) for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Move it to another area and hold it there for 1-2 minutes. Repeat until you’ve covered every area of concern. I do under my eyes, the outer sides of my eyes, my forehead, in between my eyebrows, my lips and each lower cheek.

Note: You can do this on clean, bare skin or apply your favorite serum first like my facialist does. The red lights will make the serum permeate the surface better and work more. But don’t use this device with a Vitamin A serum as the lights will actually prevent it from working.

BETTER EYE MAKEUP CORRECTOR

There’s nothing wrong with using eye makeup remover to take it all off… And you know my favorite to get the most stubborn liner and mascara off in one swipe is coconut oil (check out my DIY Waterproof Makeup Remover Tutorial if you missed it). But when you need to perfect your cat eye, straighten out your liner or remove any smears/fallout, this is a better alternative to using makeup remover (that can be too oily). Not only is eye cream formulated specifically to hydrate the eye area and help prevent fine lines, it also works as a corrector and erases any mishaps! Especially paired with a pointed cotton swab. And since you probably already own it, you have one less thing to purchase! Here’s how:

TOOLS:

STEPS:

  1. Squeeze a seed size of the eye cream onto your finger (or dip your finger into the cream pot).
  2. Dip the tip of the cotton swab into the eye cream.
  3. Place the tip at the beginning of the smear/mistake.
  4. Swipe the tip across the makeup mistake while slightly rolling it as well.

PREVENT EARLY AGING!

We all know to fight aging with sunblock and night creams. We get regular facials or do at-home facials to work on our skin’s texture and keep it clear. But there’s something really powerful that you can do every day (or at least every other day) that is incredibly powerful because it exfoliates and helps generate cell turnover, which are both key to prevent early aging. It only takes 60 seconds and you can do it while you let your conditioner soak in! Here’s how:  (more…)
