MEOW!

I always say makeup is a creative expression and why not change things up on a Friday night out! When you walk by a white liner at the department store, you probably think to yourself “there’s no way that’s wearable!” But think again! It’s not only wearable, it’s flattering. It brightens the eye and makes you look more awake. You don’t have to draw a cat eye like I did on Magali above, you can do a less stylized version and simply line it. Either way, you might be surprised how many compliments you’ll get. Here’s how:

TOOLS:

STEPS:

  1. I like to leave the lid bare or lightly powdered but not shadowed, but that doesn’t mean you can’t! Start at the inner corner and line the upper lashline with the white liner across to the outer corner, then wing it out and up, just like you would with a black liner.
  2. Add a coat of mascara.
  3. If you want to add more drama, line inner waterline.
  4. If you want even more drama, also line the bottom lashline, then wing it out and up reflecting the same angle as the upper wing.
  5. If you want triple the drama, add a lash strip too!

EAR JACKETS

Jewelry isn’t typically in our wheelhouse but all this shopping has us feeling very inspired! And if something sparkly on the ear makes your pulled back ponytail look even more chic, then it’s our beauty duty to tell you about it. These gems are called ear jackets. Some come with one (meant to be worn with a stud on the other side) and some come as a pair. Maybe you’ve heard of them, maybe you haven’t. They’re basically an accessory that attaches to the back of your earring and dangles below your earlobe, adding a very cool-girl vibe to your look. Some are spiky, some rounded and some come in shapes. We have gathered up our favorites, so whether you’re spending a hundred or a couple dollars, there’s something in here for you!

THE FLUTTER LASH

This Fall, why not step it up a little with a pair of Wispies? They’re one of the flirtiest of all the faux lash strips out there and make batting your lashes even more powerful! I’ve paired it with an Autumn eye of soft taupe and eggplant shadows. Here’s how:

TOOLS:

STEPS:

  1. Start by sweeping the Gilded shadow all over the lid.
  2. Next sweep the Custom shade back and forth in the crease and outer corner.
  3. Continue with the Custom shade along the bottom lashline.
  4. Go back and apply the Sangria shade all over the lid by “stamping” it multiple times as you work your way across.
  5. Trace the gel liner along the upper lashline from the inner corner to the outer corner.
  6. Line the bottom lashline as well.
  7. Coat your lashes with mascara.
  8. Apply the lash glue along the base of the lash strip. Wait two minutes for it to get tacky.
  9. Because you waited two minutes, you can literally “pop” them onto the lashline and they won’t slide. For more tips for lash strips, revisit my tutorial here.

NINETIES BROWN REVIVAL

You might have seen the 1990’s brown lip that I did on Sarah Hyland at the VMA’s last month (if not, check it out here), or Kylie Jenner sporting it around town. It’s a little grunge-y and a lot bold… and kind of a blow off to the sweet and innocent pink lip pop. Honestly, I don’t know why we ever took a break from it and I’m so thrilled it’s on its way back, hopefully this time for good! Here’s how to achieve it and an eye to pair it with:

TOOLS:

STEPS:

  1. Start by lining the perimeter of the lip with the lip liner.
  2. Continue filling in the entire lip area with the same lip liner.
  3. Now grab the lipstick and press hard as you apply two coats (this is not a sheer look so don’t be afraid to load it up!).
  4. Apply the sienna shadow all over the upper lid and crease.
  5. Apply the same shadow along the bottom lid, exaggerating it so it’s half of the lid, not just the lower lashline.
  6. Add a coat of mascara and you’re good to go!

If this eye is a little too grunge-y for you, pair it with a more defined eye like I did earlier this month for a Charlotte Russe campaign (see it here).
