Matte lipstick has been huge for a few years now. But there’s something we can do to make it a little more alive! I promise you will still enjoy the effect of a matte lip. But there will be more life to it if you do this:

STEPS:

  1. You can skip this step but I’m a big fan of a lined lip so I start by lining the perimeter with the lip pencil.
  2. Next fill in the lip area with the matching lipstick.
  3. Now here’s the trick: apply the lip gloss to the center of the bottom lip. It instantly adds volume and dimension with its little hint of shine. And don’t worry if you rub your lips together and it gets onto the middle of the top lip because that’s pretty too!

After a solid few years of matte lipstick, let’s bring back the Lacquered Lip, shall we? It’s refreshing  after all this time and vibrantly gorgeous! Glosses have come a long way since their reign in 2000. I used to wear goopy lip gloss and worry that a fly would buzz by and get stuck in it! DON’T CAKE UP YOUR MAKEUP!

Makeup has come a long way since our mothers’ era! And powder might become a thing of the past with this genius invention. I’ve tried it on my clients in every situation (the red carpet, talk shows, photo shoots) and it hasn’t failed me yet! I used to be a fan of blotting papers when I didn’t want to the makeup to get cakey from powder, but tapping a little anti-shine mattifier works so-o much better. No need to thank me; just enjoy! I worked on an advertising campaign yesterday for a sunglasses retailer with one of my clients, so it was all about the lips.  Not only did I need to decide what colors, but also what finishes… glossy, satin or matte… which made me very curious about ya’ll and where we are right now in lipstick trends, outside of what magazines dictate.  LA is such a bubble so please let me know what you’re doing out there!
