WHITE LINER: THE ULTIMATE PRIMER

I created this post to show you how impactful applying white eyeliner to your lid is before matte shadows to really make the shadow color come to life. Shadow primers are great too, but nowhere near as powerful as a white kohl pencil. Because honestly, matte shadows need a little help going on without become blotchy or faded; and it’s always a little disappointing to buy a shadow that’s bright and pigmented in its packaging but goes on more sheer and waah waah. This method is also an amazing way to make a DIY gorgeous matte colored liner if you don’t want to fill in the whole lid. Now that we’ve covered brushes for the whole face (foundation, powder + concealer) we can move on to eye brushes. There are so many of them out there that even I get overwhelmed a little at the make-up specialty store. EYE FOCUS: HOODED LID

Because so many of our readers have asked for more options for hooded eyelids, we thought you’d love this one fun one for summer! The trick to this slight illusion is to create a “crease line” that is a few millimeters higher than your actual crease, therefore making the lid area appear bigger than it really is. And the best way to do this is with two colors; here I used my favorite blue cream shadow for the lid with my favorite smoky taupe kohl pencil to create the new “raised” crease line.
