PARTY MAKEUP INSPIRATION

TUTORIAL + PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN

When we get dressed up for parties, Homecoming, weddings and such, we can sparkle without looking made up or overdone. It’s all about balance and taste… and today’s party inspiration look will look absolutely gorgeous on you at your next event! Simply anchor a gold glitter-y lid with an black diamond lower lashline then balance them both with a soft matte lip. Here’s the breakdown:

TOOLS:

STEPS:

  1. After applying foundation (if needed) and a nude blush, look up and line the lower lashline with a black gel liner by dipping the liner brush into the gel pot, smoothing it out on the back of your hand then sweeping the brush across the skin behind the lower lashes as demonstrated on Lexie above.
  2. Rim the inner waterline with the pencil then blink so the product is deposited on the upper waterline as well. Repeat to intensify.
  3. Press your finger against the glitter pot then stamp it across your upper lid. Gently smear it back and forth to smooth out any lumps. I extended it outward past slightly and in the inner corner of the bottom lashline for extra drama but that’s your call.
  4. Add a couple coats of mascara.
  5. Finish by sweeping the lip lacquer along the lip area.

GO FOR THE GOLD!

If you’re a little tired of the same old same old… try this little gem! It’s daring yet gorgeous and perfect for your trendsetting self… not to mention really pretty on all skin tones! Here’s how:

TOOLS:

  • Gold Glittery Shadow — I used Stila Magnificent Metals Eye Duo in Comex because it’s the perfect consistency for glitter that I’ve ever come across as there is no fall out. Revisit my Get Sequined Tutorial to see it used all over the upper lid.
  • Contour Brush — If you haven’t picked up Chanel’s Contour Brush yet, get ready for your world to change! It’s this thin little shadow brush that you can use to make a perfect cut crease or like I did above to press the glittery shadow onto the skin.
  • Mascara — Wait until you get your hands on Lancome’s new Grandiose Mascara! The swan neck curls and flares out your lashes while the bristles perfectly separate them. I haven’t stopped using it since!
  • Pair it with any Lip Color — I used Dior Addict Fluid Stick in Aventure on Morgan above because it’s a gorgeous hybrid between a liquid lipstick and a gloss.

STEPS:

  1. Start with any matte nude shadow all over the lid. Don’t use a shimmer/pearlized finish as it will compete with the gold. It has to be matte!
  2. Dip the brush into the setting lotion (or simply dampen it with water) and tap it against the gold glitter to load it lightly. Gently press it along the inner half of the lower lid as demonstrated above. Just press and stamp it incrementally as you move along the lash line. Don’t sweep it!
  3. Skip eyeliner (another element that would take away attention from the gold goodness) but don’t skip on mascara! Two quick coats will do.

RAVE MAKEUP INSPIRATION

POST + PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN

Raves are getting more and more popular and are the perfect time to go neon! You let go of inhibitions when you go underground, so why not do the same with your makeup? Typically, pastel pink shadow borders on sickly, but paired with a neon pink liner and anchored with a black wing and it’s not only wearable but quite pretty!! Here’s how:

TOOLS:

STEPS:

  1. Apply the pastel pink shadow all over the lid and crease with a shadow brush.
  2. Line the upper lid with the neon pink pencil and wing it out and up. Go a little thick with this one so there’s room for the black liner.
  3. Trace the lashline with the black liquid liner and wing it out and up, following the neon pink line.
  4. Finish with a couple coats of mascara.

Pair it with a fuchsia lip. And remember, this look is created specifically for raves and clubbing… not intended for every day!
