A SPRING LIP

Post + Photography by Amy Nadine, Graphic Design by Eunice Chun

Coming out of Winter and into Spring is my favorite time of the year! Be gone with the vamp and oxblood lips from the past months! There’s so much inspiration everywhere with daffodils popping up, cherry blossoms blooming and azaleas gazing and all can be transferred into makeup choices. There are many gorgeous collections that have come out for Spring and I hope this post inspires you to take a quick walk down the beauty aisle at your local drug or department store or browse online and brighten your look with a new feminine and fun lip color! And you probably already have a peach cream blush and a rose gold loose eyeshadow to add to it (just saying!). (more…)

NEUTRALIZE TO MAKE AN IMPACT

Lips come in many shades with some darker than others, regardless of your skin tone. My clients with darker skin tones tend to have darker lips or a dark line on the perimeter of the lip area. My client Krysten Ritter has very fair skin and raspberry red lips naturally. I also have fair skin but my lips barely have any pigment to them at all. So it’s the luck of the draw, really. But if your lips are naturally pigmented, you’ve probably struggled with lipsticks looking different on you than they do in the tube. If that’s the case, then this tutorial is for you! Grab your favorite lipstick and do a comparison of what it looks like directly on your lips versus what it looks like after these four steps.  (more…)

BE OUR GUEST: MATTE LIP

photos: amy nadine, post: carissa ferreri, graphic design: eunice chun

Today we welcome back our guest blogger Carissa Ferreri who is sharing her favorite way to turn any lipstick into a matte lipstick. Take it away, Carissa!

I pride myself on bargain shopping and getting the most bang for your buck. There are so many makeup products out there and sometimes you just don’t have the funds or room for every shade and texture of the season! So here’s  an easy way to use products that you may already own to give yourself a newer look. I love the satin lipsticks but adore the look of really bright matte lips where they are the focus of attention. Instead of buying yet another product to create this look, just use what you have!

WE’RE TRIPPIN!

We love sharing our beauty travels with you. Our latest + greatest trip was to Toronto Canada where all the cool kids are! We were honored to speak on Unilever’s Be Groomed, Be Gorgeous panel with the hilarious George Kotsiopoulos from E!’s Fashion Police. In case you don’t know about Unilever, they have brands like Dove, Clear Hair, TRESemmé, Ponds, St. Ives, Vaseline, Q-Tips and a bunch of other brands you probably have in your bathroom. We got to meet Sharon MacLeod, Unilever Canada’s VP of Marketing, and she gave us some great insight into what’s coming up with many of their brands and we have to say– there’s some exciting stuff happening. On our panel, we discussed lots of beauty trends for 2013, tips on controlling oily skin, how to make better decisions on product while staring at the shelves and we even tapped into men’s trends with George. After the panel, we all got to test out new products that hadn’t hit the shelves, which for people in the beauty industry is really exciting. Particularly obsessed with this Vaseline “Spray + Go” that you’re going to DIE for!! It’s just a simple spray-on moisturizer but when you’re rushing out the door and you don’t want to get lotion all over everything, this is going to be a life-saver. How did no one come up with that sooner?? We also got these CUUUUTE little blinged out jars of Vaseline– j’adore! Some of our fave things that we checked out were the ever-expanding St. Ives line, innovative new styling products by Dove, and seeing the science behind Clear Hair. It was a fun day and we got to meet so many sweet Canadians! Thank you to Unilever Canada for inviting us to Toronto to share all the excitement of 2013!

Side note– Toronto (aka T-Dot) is such a great place! It reminded us a lot of New York in some ways. We went to this place called “The Bay” to go shopping. Inside we stumbled upon “The Room” where they carry the most INSANE high-fashion clothing we’ve ever seen in one spot. We wanted to live in that place! We stayed at the Shangri-La and couldn’t get enough of the noodles at Momofuku. We heart Toronto!
