SOFTEN UP!

TUTORIAL & PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN

The best way to transition from Spring into Summer is with a Pastel Eye! It’s light and airy and really compliments the pastel fashion of the S/S14 runways. There are many ways you can pull this off and today I’ve narrowed it down to three: lashline only, upper lid or both lids. Of course you can swap any of the colors with any of the applications. Or choose a pale green or another pastel that you love! Here’s how to do each:

TOOLS:

LASHLINE ONLY:

  1. Trace the liquid liner along the lashline from the inner corner to the outer corner.
  2. Go back over it (I had to a couple of times) to make it more intense and less sheer.

UPPER LID ONLY:

  1. Apply the shadow all over the lid and crease with a shadow brush.
  2. Repeat if you need more intensity.

UPPER & LOWER LIDS:

  1. Apply the shadow all over the lid and crease of the upper lid with a shadow brush.
  2. Sweep the same shadow along the lower lashline as well.

Please tag us if you try one of these or a pastel of your own!

PRETTY PARTY EYE

With Homecoming just around the corner, here’s a gorgeous makeup look to get you inspired! And for those of us who’ve already graduated, try this look on your next night out! It’s very feminine and looks especially gorgeous with green and hazel eyes because purple is the complimentary color of green (revisit my Green Eye Shadow Focus Guide and Hazel Eye Shadow Focus Guide) and looks stunning on brown eyes as it brings out any green or yellow flecks in the brown (revisit my Brown Eye Shadow Focus Guide for more ideas). Those of us with blue eyes can definitely rock it too (I have!) but it won’t pop as much (revisit my Blue Eye Shadow Focus Guide for other inspiration). Then pair it with a peach cheek & lip and an LBD like I did on Brook Power above! Here’s how: (more…)

LITTLE PICK ME UP

For those of you who either don’t feel comfortable wearing makeup every day or don’t always have the time, this little trick might be for you! Why? Because the complementary color to purple is yellow, so the lilac corrects any sallow yellowness and instantly brightens and wakes up the eyes. It also pairs perfectly with a bold lip, when you don’t want the eye to compete but still want to perk it up a little. And the best part is, the makeup isn’t noticeable while the impact is.¬†Here’s how:¬† (more…)
