HOW TO MAKE YOUR EYE SHADOW LAST LONGER

POST + PHOTOS BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN

This is the easiest way to make your eye shadow last all night. Because if you just use cream shadow, it will most likely travel and end up in your crease. And if you just use powder shadow, it will probably dissipate from your own eyelid oils and fade as the night goes on. But something magical happens when you put the two of them together! Here’s how:

TOOLS:

STEPS:

  1. Apply the cream shadow all over lid, crease and lower lash line.
  2. Layer the powder shadow on top of the cream shadow. Make sure to give the brush a quick tap on a counter top to lose any excess powder that could make it go on less evenly.

WHICH BRUSH DOES WHAT? FACE EDITION

photo + post by amy nadine, graphic design by eunice chun

These seven brushes are our favorites to perfect your skin. You don’t need all of them, as you probably don’t use cream, liquid and mineral foundation all together! We just get so many emails asking which brush does what, so we’re breaking it up into three posts: face, cheeks + eyes, and today is our face edition with our favorite foundation, concealer and powder brushes. With all types of foundations, remember to start at the center of your face (where you typically need the most coverage) and work the product outwards to the perimeter. Also, the best companion tool for brushes is your fingers so don’t forget to blend with them as you use your brushes. And please don’t forget your neck! (more…)

THE MOST HARMONIOUS BLUSH SHADE FOR YOUR SKIN TONE

It’s a free world and I love that we can all wear any blush shade we are in the mood to wear each day! But certain shades are more harmonious on some skin tones than on others. Why does it matter? Because when you find your perfect blush shade, no matter what eye shadow or lip color you choose, the blush becomes secondary and more of a natural flush, like you’re blushing. So here’s a loose guideline in finding your blush bestie! **We know that many of us fall in between the 6 skin tone shades listed above, but as much as it kills us, we just can’t include all 5,682 different variations in skin tones…  But please don’t fret, just find the ones that you fall in between and decide if you have more of the cooler or warmer undertone version of the two tones. For a refresher course in undertones, revisit my lesson from last year by clicking here. (more…)
