PARTY MAKEUP INSPIRATION

TUTORIAL + PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN

For the girl out there that lives to express herself artistically, this one is for you! It’s fun, playful and actually wearable even though it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. It looks like glitter from far way but as you can see, it’s not! We found this look floating around Instagram a few months ago, thanks for letting us know J Kissa originally created it! Here’s how you can recreate it too:

TOOLS:

  • Matte Liquid Liners– I used Lime Crime Liquid Eyeliners (white here, purple here, black here, light blue here, citreuse here, royal blue here) and Dior Addict It-Line in It-Pink here.
  • Metallic Liquid Liners — I used MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Liners (18 shades here of which 16 are metallic) and Lancome Artliner 24H Bold Color Precision Eyeliners (10 metallic shades here).

STEPS:

  1. Start by picking a matte shade and dot randomly along the lashline, continuing out and up at the end like you would a cat eye.
  2. Pick another matte shade and dot randomly then continue with as many matte shades that you have.
  3. Switch to a metallic shade and speckle more dots randomly all over the “line” you created with the matte liners.
  4. Continue dotting with your metallic shades.
  5. Grab one of your matte shades (I chose purple) and perfect the wing by drawing two lines that intersect into a point.

There are so many ways you can vary this too! You can choose only three shades. You could do a gradient speckle where it starts with white dots that continue to become white and pink dots then pink and red dots then only red dots… have fun with it! And be sure to share by tagging us on social!

NAILED IT!

If you’re female and you have a pulse, likelihood is you like a little sparkle. We’re on a mission to keep our holiday bottles of bling current. Most of these colors were released last year around the holidays but we refuse to toss them out. Instead we’re pairing them with softer shades for Springtime. Applying glitter or gold over a plain polish is nothing new but it definitely amps up the fancy factor. Do it on one nail, do it on all your nails. Either way, these are our new favorite combos.

The turquoise polish in the top photo was “Wednesday” by Zoya and the rose color in the bottom is “Petal Pusher” from Sally Hansen. Also– in case you missed it, here’s the tutorial on how to get a good glitter fade.

CONFETTI NAILS

There are so many reasons to celebrate — your birthday, friends’ birthdays, holidays and every day in between. Today we’re partnering up with Beauty.com to celebrate their Friends & Family Event (which is happening now!) and to show you a crafty way to add this pretty party to your nails. My favorite part about this manicure is that you’re just punching out tissue paper circles and applying them to the nail. No major skills required, unlike most nail art! Here we go:

  1. Punch out tissue paper circles. Put about 5-7 pieces on top of each other to get a good solid punch.
  2. Paint the base of the nails with any color you want. We used Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Nail Lacquer in Cruising because clearly metallic gold says party.
  3. Use a pen to pick up the pieces of confetti and lay them down on the wet nail polish. Make a couple pieces overlap and/or cut some of the pieces down so you can lay them against the cuticle as seen in the final photo.
  4. Let some of the confetti pieces hang over the edge and trim them down when you’re done laying them all down.
  5. Once all of the pieces are where you want them, go over the whole nail with a good top coat!

The Beauty.com Friends & Family Event is a twice-yearly event that gives you the rare opportunity to enjoy 20% off your favorite brands, like Urban Decay, Philosophy, Deborah Lippmann & many more. It ends on Friday 11/9 at 11:59pm PST!
