FANCY THAT

So many bows, so little time. A lot of people think they might look silly sporting a bow, but we’ve tracked down 11 great ways to wear one without looking like it’s your first day of kindergarten.

DOUBLE UP (above) Try using black grosgrain ribbon (that’s the one that has the tiny lines going across) and double your bow on a high pony. Make sure the pony has a bit of a messy texture so you don’t look like you’re going to cheer at a pep rally– no offense, cheerleaders!

BEHIND YOUR BUN: Luckily, with our tutorials you can do a bun like this or this in a couple quick minutes. Buns + topknots are particularly great if you’re going out after a long day of work. Throw it up and clip a big bow in the back. Fancy, fast!

ACCESSORY REPORT: INSTANT HAIR BOW

post + design by Kristin Ess

There aren’t enough bows in this world if you ask me and thanks to these little gems being a girly-girl just got a whole lot easier! Remember the top photo from when Lauren wore her hair in a bow on Jimmy Kimmel? It was a really fun hair style to create, but it takes a long time to get the hair formed into a perfect bow shape, especially if you have thick hair like she does. Many of you asked if there was a quick way to get the look. Well, wish granted! These bows were made to clip right in. You can put your hair half up, in a ponytail or in a bun and finalize the look with a hair bow in your color. I think these are pretty amazing… and may or may not have just ordered one of each color for my kit.

ON THAT NOTE…

I don’t know why, but I find this look so incredibly adorable.  That being said, this is definitely a trend for the daring.  Wearing a pair of ears on my head is normally reserved for my annual Disneyland trip (or Amy Nadine’s weekly trip) or paired with my Halloween costume.  So it may feel unusual to wear it on a regular old Friday night, but I say who gives a darn!?  Why not have a little fun with your look and play dress up this weekend?

Bows, bows bows!!  This week I am spending some time in New York City
to work on my clothing line LC Lauren Conrad.  The season that I am
currently working on is filled with my favorite pretty detail… Bows!
After spending a day surrounded by beautifully knotted ribbons and
chiffons, I simply can’t help but be inspired.  So if you are a bow
lover like myself, why not let that trend carry over into The Beauty
Department? Nails, hair and even lashes are all just waiting to be
adorned with a lovely bow.
