Bri Emery is one of my blonde besties and today we did a lil post together over on her site, designlovefest! Not only is she the “Goddess of Graphic” but a constant source or originality and inspriation to me and lots of my fellow bloggers on the www. I know I can always count on her impeccable taste and she also makes me laugh til I can’t breathe. She helped me create my dream site, thebeautydepartment.com and now she’s called on me help her get her dream hair.
Pretty problems:
Bri loves to not brush her hair. She also doesn’t own a blow dryer. She’s incredibly stylish but some how remains super low-maintenance. She likes that wavy, unkempt, downtown, girly hair that she often pairs with vintage, sequin or polkadots. She also loves scarves, which can be very hard on dry, wavy hair because typically they cause lots of tangling near the neck. Her hair was swirled, twirled and knotty-knotty when I got my hands on it for the first time last week.
The shiny solution:
She’s a bleach baby. I wanted to keep her look because she’s just got a “thing” going on. We lightened her up to her signature ultra-light blonde, but instead of doing a deep treatment after her color (which she needs, but can do at home) I glossed her with a clear gloss. It’s like a top coat for your nails, but for your hair. Ask your hairstylist to do a gloss if you’re feeling like your hair is dry and lacking shine (I use Redken Shades EQ). It’s so important to SEAL THE HAIR BACK DOWN after lightening so much. Gloss, gloss, gloss!
Go check out our cute post and her gorgeous website to see the before and after!!
